This afternoon the SEC made a surprising decision to play a 10 game SEC only schedule. Why? With this I believe that the conference took away at least 3 wins from from Georgia, Florida, & Kentucky by not allowing these schools to play their respective in-state rival.
How can you explain to me rationally that UK can travel to the likes of Louisiana, but cannot drive down I-64 to play UofL Cardinals? Trust me you can’t. UK is on a 2 game win streak vs. the Cards & has won 3 out of the last 4 contests.
After the decision was made public UK football coach Mark Stoops made this statement. “I’m glad there is a plan in place so we can move forward with preparations for the season. I understand and support the decision to begin on September 26. Everyone would like to play a full schedule, including our rivalry game with Louisville, but this timing and format gives us our best opportunity to adjust to these unique circumstances.”
I do believe Mark Stoops is glad a plan is in place, believe me we all do, but I can’t accept that we should understand this decision. What exactly am I missing?
Moving on at least the mystery of not knowing what the plan is has been released & we can all look forward to our Wildcats stepping on the field this fall. Let’s all wait to see who & how many will be allowed in the stadium.
