Paul Gaffney has been doing big things for the longest time. If you’re from Harlan County you already know. I (along with many others) watched him as a kid when he was doing his thing with Lewis Morris and Freddie Maggard for those uber talented Cumberland Redskins teams back in the day.
After high school he went on to play his college ball and Tennessee Weslyan and on to the Harlem Globetrotters for 15 years after that. I had the privilege of talking with him about it a couple of years ago. As fun as it was there were still so many topics that I didn’t get to cover with him. That’s how long his list of accomplishments is.
He is still closely involved in the game of basketball and currently serves as the Owner/GM of the Tennessee Conductors of The Women’s Professional Basketball Association. The franchise is based in Chattanooga. He is quickly filling his roster with Kentucky talent. On May 13 he used his first pick to select former Cat, fellow southeastern Kentuckian and daughter of his former teammate Lewis Morris, Maci Morris.
He used his second pick on a player Morris knows very well.

The back court is set and the chemistry is already established. It remains to be seen as to whether or not there will be a season for the Conductors, but if it does Taylor and Maci will definitely be a problem. Congrats to all involved!
