Michael Porter Jr. and Jarred Vanderbilt spent a season in the SEC back in 2017-18 at Missouri and Kentucky respectively. They both battled injuries for the bulk of their freshman seasons. Porter played in three games (made his debut against Kentucky) while Vanderbilt appeared in 14 contests.
They both moved on to the next level and were drafted by the Denver Nuggets
Porter was selected 14th in the first round. Vanderbilt was taken in the second round with the 41st pick.
They have both dealt with injuries as pros too. Porter is healthy once again and beginning to find his way and put some good games together. He had a big game on January 2 in Indianapolis against the Indiana Pacers.
Tuesday, he appeared on the Jim Rome Show to discuss it.
He spoke of some of the dark times he had been through and mentioned that he had even begun to question himself. He credited
Vanderbilt and Isaiah Thomas (now with the Washington Wizards) for helping him while he was out of action and praised the way they attacked their rehab.
It was just really interesting to hear him talk about what he’d been through and give props to his teammates for helping him bounce back.
