Interested in Writing for Just The Cats?

Hey Everyone. Want to have some fun?

For the very first time since we launched in August, we are looking for new, talented writers to join our team!

Are you someone who has a passion for writing about UK sports? Are you interested in pursuing a career in the sports media field? This might be the perfect opportunity for you.

We haven’t had any writers go on to get internships and full-time jobs at ESPN just yet—but on the other hand…we’re just getting started bro. If you want to get in on the ground floor of something really BIG, then this gig might just be for you. Being a Just The Cats writer can also be a great experience to see if the media field truly is for you in the long-term. Learn under the tutelage of long-time local media stalwarts such as Larry Vaught and Keith Taylor.

Our focus is primarily to find writers who attend college in the state of Kentucky (UK, Transy, EKU, Centre, etc), so that you are able to cover events on campus or in the community. But we’ll also consider anyone who’s REALLY passionate and good. If you also have other multimedia experience such as graphic design, please let us know as well.

Writing for Just The Cats is a great opportunity and a lot of fun, but our writers also put a lot of hard work and effort into this position. If writing about UK sports is your passion, it should be a great experience and we encourage you to apply.

Here’s what you need to apply:

1). Cover letter explaining why you’re interested in writing for Just The Cats. Give us a little background information as well (who you are, where you’re from, etc)

2). Resume

3). A writing sample of your best work. This can be a previous piece from school that you believe is strong but also include a sample piece you would write for Just The Cats.

4). Class/work schedule so we know when you are available to write

Email all the above materials to Michael@justthecats.com . The deadline to apply is Monday, March 2nd at 5pm. Good luck and we look forward to reading your submissions!

Please note: This is an unpaid position, but we’ll work with you so that you could possibly receive college credit during your time at Just The Cats. We’ll also do our best to use our ever-growing platform to help you build your brand.
