My brother, Dr. Mike the photographer, got married in Las Vegas this week. Well, sort of. He and Michelle, his lovely bride of five years, renewed their wedding vows between the UK games at the Wedding Chapel on the Strip. Of course, Elvis was there to officiate the entire ceremony, and a grand time was had by all. Just goes to show you how normal people sometimes do weird things when visiting Vegas.
Kentucky fans experienced that weirdness first hand over the weekend. It was HEARTBREAK HOTEL as the Wildcats (8-3) dropped games to both unranked Utah (69-66) and 5th-ranked Ohio State (71-65).
Against the Utes, it was LOVE ME TENDER, as the Wildcats played soft as Charmin. Fortunately against the Bucs, the team showed a bit more fight.
Nate Sestina was a A BIG HUNK O’ LOVE for the BBN, scoring a season-high 17 points on five-of-eight three-point shooting in the CBS Sports Classic finale. Meanwhile, EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards were HOUND DOGS, combining for only six points and five rebounds on the big stage.
Fans in T-Mobile Arena appeared ALL SHOOK UP as the Wildcats launched brick after brick from behind the arc. DON’T BE CRUEL, but you have to ask why this team can’t shoot. Even Tyrese Maxey’s drive to the hoop was emphatically RETURNED TO SENDER while Johnny Juzang, in his BLUE SUEDE SHOES, still couldn’t find the basket.
SUSPICIOUS MINDS want to know—is this season IN THE GHETTO? Not if it’s up to Ashton Hagans. CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE with his 14-point/9 assist performance the other night. He’s the one guy Coach Cal can count on night in and night out to bring it.
Hey Cat fans, don’t let these two losses get STUCK ON YOU, because look what’s coming up next. IT’S NOW OR NEVER with Louisville gracing the menu. With SEC teams pooping the bed right and left, there won’t be many more chances to boost the resume. Should be like JAILHOUSE ROCK at Rupp Arena on Saturday. Won’t be surprised at all if Kentucky pulls out the victory.
