Final Four Ticket Punched

Kentucky Men’s Tennis upset No. 1-seeded TCU 4 – 3 to advance to the Final Four for the first time in program history. Similar to the Sweet Sixteen round against Wake Forest last week, the Wildcats lost the doubles point but rallied to win four of the six singles matches to survive and advance.

Liam Draxl playing at No. 1 and Millen Hurrion at No. 3 won in straight sets while Francois Musitelli at No. 4 and Gabriel Diallo at No. 2 powered through three-set wins.

In the previous three victories in the NCAA tournament, the Wildcats have celebrated by posting the sticker on the board advancing them to the next round.

When asked after the Super Regional win against the Demon Deacons how many more stickers the team would like to post, Draxl confidently answered, “Three.”

As of now, make that two. Kentucky will now face the winner of the Michigan/Ohio State match on Saturday at 11 am in the semifinals. Win that one, and it’s on to the championship finals on Sunday at 2 pm.

All matches are being played at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois. It’s only a four-and-a-half-hour-drive from Lexington. There’s still plenty of time to get up there to watch UK Tennis post stickers and make history.
